Safeco Insurance donates $3.5 million in art

The Seattle-based insurance company is donating 840 pieces, worth about $3.5 million, to the Washington Art Consortium. (The Whatcom Museum and Western's Gallery will benefit from this donation too!) Today is a great day in the Northwest art world, especially knowing that hundreds of pieces by local artists will remain in the state.

Midlake at the Nighlight

Midlake will be playing at the Nightlight Lounge in Bellingham on March 7th at 8pm. This pleasant indie band from Denton, Texas gets a lot of play on Seattle's KEXP. If you're looking for a change from your normal booze filled nights of the rogue or whatever goes on at the royal, i'd suggest stopping by to check them out.
